Brisbane to Cairns: 1,700km up the Electric Super Highway

Queensland's Electric Super Highway was Australia's first state charging network, and it makes 1,700km of tropical coast a genuinely relaxed EV trip. The gaps are longest north of Townsville — plan Ingham and Tully deliberately.

Road-trip FAQ

For most modern EVs (60kWh+, 450km+ WLTP), plan one 20–30 minute stop per 400–500km of highway driving at 110km/h. Smaller-battery cars should plan on one stop per 250–300km. Arriving with 15–20% is comfortable; below 10% is gambling with headwinds.
