Our goal is to do more than just drive an Electric Vehicle. Here at EVAustralia we want to promote the entire concept and get as many people as possible driving, making, buying and supporting Electric Vehicles.
To achive this we need your help so please consider making a donation or assisting us by promoting this site and the concept of Electric Vehicles.
Money raised will be used to the below tasks, some of these may seem very ambitious. However if we want to do something about motoring in Australia we are going to have to set our goals high.

Current Status
First EV conversion
The first conversion is being done as a trial to prove that basic conversions are easy to achive for the average Australian. Currently most parts have been purchased however we looking for your help to pay this back. Once the first conversion has been paid for we will move to the second conversion after which the first vehicle will be donated to a school or some other body.
Produce a book on the conversion
Once the first conversion is finished we intend to publish a book with a step by step guide based on our experiences. This will be specifically written from an Australian point of view. Proceeds from the book will be invested back in to the other items on this page. If there are any publishers or editors out there who would like to assist in this project please feel free to contact us.
Advertising
We are attempting to get as much free advertising as possible for this site and concept. However awareness will be greatly increased if we are able to promote EV's through the mainstream media. If you have any contacts in this area who would be willing to provide free advertising please feel free to assist.

A great way to show Australia just how many EV's there are out there is to put on a national show.
Encurage charging stations
There are already a few shopping centres in Australia that already make power points available for EV's but we need a lot more. Our goal here is to get more to do the same and to get at least 1 major parking company to provide dedicated charging outlets in all of their parking centres. As a starting point we will be looking at funding the installation of a number of charging points in public areas.
We also want to encurage the govenment to provide employers with incentives for providing employees with EV friendly parking. One of the best ways to do this will be to remove the FBT on parking for EV bays.
Encuraging Government support
To really get EV's to take off we are going to have to get the Local, State and Federal governments behind the idea. Each will be able to assist in their own way. Local governments will be able to provide subsidised parking or charging stations. State governments can provide insentives in road taxes or grants. Federal government can provide grants for conversions and the setting up of EV related companies.
Another great way that the Federal goverment can greatly support EV's is to remove the FBT. This will greatly increase EV usage by giving EV's a better tax break than conventional cars when combined with a salary package.
Second EV Conversion
The biggest argument against EV's is the range on a single charge. To try and show that this does not have to be a concern we intend to do a second conversion using high end batteries and achieve a range that will show the full potential of a converted car.
Providing a local school with parts for a conversion
What better way to show the benifits of EV's than to give drivers of the future first hand experiance. We intend to provide funding to at least one local school to run their own conversion project. We also want to encurage people to support schools in their own areas to do the same.
Build an EV from scratch.
Up until now we have been converting existing cars to electric but, to get the maximum benifit, an electric car should be started from scratch so that things such as weight, battery and engine placement etc can be taken in to account. Now we know that we are not car designers and that a real new car design can cost hundreds of thousands if not a few million. However there are some shortcuts that can be made such as modifying kit cars etc. Hopefuly by the time we get to this part an Australian company will have beaten us to it making this step redundant.
